Monday Madness – Ponderings & rants from the genealogy realm

Posted: February 28, 2011 in For Genealogists, Monday Madness

Ponderings and rants from the genealogical realm is pretty much a wish list for everyone who wishes to solve a historical mystery.

Ponderings include:

  • How many people actually use Elizabeth Shown Mills Style?   My argument is that until its built into the software directly or a better report writer is created – this will most likely be done by hand.  Boo!
  • Whats the difference between the Griffith’s Valuation versus the census records.  These two are forever being confused with each other.  While the valuation can be used like a census – it did not nor does not replace a census record in Ireland.
  • How many genealogists does it take to trash a brickwall?  Now that is a true pondering.

Rantings:

  • Cost of accessing databases is getting expensive again.
  • How many people can afford the big one?  You know the one I mean – really!
  • How many times have you considered calling the producers of “Who Do You Think You Are” and say – you could have located that from home.  doh!

Well that’s it for this weeks madness.  Whew glad Monday’s almost over with.

Next week – Monday Madness – Occupations
